Monster.com has a new brand ambassador. Soft spoken speaker Meira Kumar for "Caught in a wrong job?" campaign :)
I wonder why a speaker is referred by the name "Speaker" because the hapless person never gets to speak and all his/her time is expended in silencing the unruly MPs. How about a name change to "Silencer"? :)

Free downloading is not free after all!!!
We all get lured by free downloading of softwares, MP3 songs and videos. However each of these downloads contribute to CO2 emissions from the datacentres which facilitate our insatiable thirst for free data.
You see its not free after all!!!
Solution: Download whats absolutely necessary.
Refrain from downloading copyrighted materials.
Stop forwarding frivolous emails
Perhaps blogging less is what you may suggest :)
Happy reading :)

New lingo: An unparliamentary gentleman

The recent unruly happenings in UP Assembly and yesterday's ruckus created by MPs in the Lok Sabha have given the word "Unparliamentary" a new connotation. Riotous proceedings seem to be the hallmark of our august (pun intended) houses. Zero hour is actually "Zero tolerance hour" and the well of the House becomes an "aakhada " for the "Bahubali" leaders.
In fact, the Loksabha TV channel should be made an X-rated channel. It will have a worse influence on children than WWF and FTV. Or taking a leaf out of V.S. Acharya's book, at least have an ombudsman monitoring the broadcast of images from parliament. Then, for a change, MPs like Ramdoss will take up cudgels against artistic liberty being abused. After all, creating trouble of such proportions, escaping with a mild token reprimand and still pocketing a handsome salary is an art.
The time has come to consider decent and discreet behaviour as Unparliamentary and the otherwise behaviour as Parliamentary.
PS: Does it mean that I can call Muthalik & his kin as Parliamentarians?? :-) Somnath Chatterjee will agree albeit off the record ;-)

Star-struck!!!
Star Screen Awards have got it all wrong. Here's why.
Best Choreography : Khwaja Mere Khwaja (Jodhaa Akbar)
This is not just a nomination but also a winner!!!
The song Khwaja Mere Khwaja does not have a single step of Dance or whatever name that you can attribute to shaking a leg. All that the actors during the fag end of the song do is raise the right arm towards Heaven and swirl. That was not all that ground breaking an achievement. Heaven save this judgement!!
I don't know who the other worthy contenders were, but this song definitely do not deserve a best choreography award unless one can say that sitting on ground and waving your hands frantically can be counted as Dancing.
In the same function, Akshay Kumar declined to receive the Best popular Award and declared that Aamir Khan deserves it more. Not that this was enough embarrassment to the organisers, he went on to say that just because Aamir does not attend these award functions, his performances should not go unnoticed.
The Star Screen guys must now be in a trance ;-)

Forge the people, buy the people!!!
Elections in India can be best summed up with this phrase. Its not a secret that politicos resort to forgery of the voter ID cards for getting the bogus votes. They also bribe the voters.
Abraham Lincoln would turn in his grave for he was the one who famously addressed America with these words "Of the people, for the people, by the people".
I can add one more phrase; Off the people. That's what politicians do after the elections. The full 5 year term is then solely dedicated in recovering the truck loads of money spent during the elections.
"Forge the people, buy the people then off the people".
I have often seen newspapers celebrating the conclusion of elections as being free and fair (Fee and fare!!!) under a huge caption "Dance of Democracy".
Yes indeed, its the democarcy that dances to the tunes of rich, wealthy and sleazy politicians.
Vent your anger in the comments section below.

Curse in Disguise
Sidney cricket ground has become a interesting ground for the Aussies. Jinx or a happy hunting ground??
It was the same SCG where Aussies won last year against India under dubious circumstances. The "unfair" loss made India comeback stronger thereby Aussies losing 4 of the 5 tests to India played thereafter. That kind of triggered Aussie downfall.
Yesterday, Australia won the game against South Africa and this could make them complacent and turn a blind eye towards the rot that has already set in. In a way Sidney Test win could become a curse in disguise..
Celebrated English Author Rudyard Kipling's famous words "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster/ And treat those two impostors just the same” seem not so off the mark. Aussie should treat the latest win as an impostor and do the due diligence.
However we may despise Aussies aggressive way of playing the gentleman's (pun intended) game, we still love to see them play at their fiercest best :-)
Its quite ironical that I am quoting this bloke Kipling who also famously once referred to the game of cricket as "flannelled fools at the wicket" :-)
