New lingo: An unparliamentary gentleman

The recent unruly happenings in UP Assembly and yesterday's ruckus created by MPs in the Lok Sabha have given the word "Unparliamentary" a new connotation. Riotous proceedings seem to be the hallmark of our august (pun intended) houses. Zero hour is actually "Zero tolerance hour" and the well of the House becomes an "aakhada " for the "Bahubali" leaders.

In fact, the Loksabha TV channel should be made an X-rated channel. It will have a worse influence on children than WWF and FTV. Or taking a leaf out of V.S. Acharya's book, at least have an ombudsman monitoring the broadcast of images from parliament. Then, for a change, MPs like Ramdoss will take up cudgels against artistic liberty being abused. After all, creating trouble of such proportions, escaping with a mild token reprimand and still pocketing a handsome salary is an art.

The time has come to consider decent and discreet behaviour as Unparliamentary and the otherwise behaviour as Parliamentary.

PS: Does it mean that I can call Muthalik & his kin as Parliamentarians?? :-) Somnath Chatterjee will agree albeit off the record ;-)
